Question That’s Important to Her

You miss having the car.

You miss holding the dog.

You probably miss a full fridge

And a homemade dinner.

You miss not worrying

Paying all of the bills

Cause she always found a way.

But do you miss her?

She doesn’t miss the you

Who took her for granted

Treated her as a given.

In case you wondered

She misses the you

Who thought of her

As something special.

But do you  just  miss

The car, food, paid bills…

Or she now wonders…

Giving tree		Giving.
Giving.		Giving tree
Pleased, you will		Pleased, you will
Grow me back		Grow me back
Someday soon.		Someday soon.
You would fall to earth’s rock,		You were falling to earth,
Crumbling and crackling		Plunging and pancaking
Your bones, but		Your limbs, but
My limbs stretched		My leaves soaked
Under your weight,		Up all your weight,
My boughs buoyed you.		My limbs lassoed you.
My hope holds you –		My faith floats you –
Your safety net.		Your parachute.
Eat of my fruit, and		Giving Tree
Swing from my branch; cut		Giving.
Boards for your home; take		Giving tree
Fuel for your heat; build a		Please, will you
Boat for your leave; use my		Grow me back
Stump for your seat –		Someday soon?
